COTABATO CITY—Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) ensures safeguarding the storing of agriculture/fisheries inputs in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte with the construction of a storage facility in the BARMM Integrated Agriculture and Fisheries Research Center (BARMMIAFRC) on January 8, 2024.
Expected to be completed within six months, the facility was funded under the Government Appropriation Act of 2023, amounting to Php5,700,000.00, with a total area of 16 by 25 square meters that could accommodate 10,000 bags of agri-fishery products.
MAFAR Director II for Research Development and Extension Services, Tong Abas, emphasized the importance of the facility in addressing the pressing need for secure and efficient storage of agri-fishery inputs in the region.
“The establishment of this storage facility is a significant leap towards ensuring the safety and efficiency of our agri-fishery inputs. It will play a crucial role in sustaining a steady and secure supply, contributing to the overall progress of farming and fisheries communities in the Bangsamoro region,” said Director Abas.
Engineer Ashnaira Abdullah, Chief of the MAFAR Engineering Division, reiterated the significance of improving facilities to better serve Bangsamoro farmers, fisherfolks, and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of MAFAR officials, including Chief Science Research Specialist Dr. Ismael Satol, BARMMIAFRC Manager Abdul Nasseef Ulong, and representatives from the project contractor, among others. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
