COTABATO CITY—Ten (10) consecutive groundbreaking ceremonies for the establishment of various school building projects and facilities were conducted by the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) in Marawi City and Lanao del Sur province.
The ceremonies were made possible last week through the ministry’s Education Facilities Section (EFS).
With a total amount of Php106,061,050.52, the projects include 2-storey with 10-classroom flagship buildings, 1-storey with 2-classroom buildings, and covered courts.
Funded under the 2020 Special Development Fund (SDF), 2-storey with 10-classroom school buildings are being constructed at Batabor National High School (Php20,628,111.46) in Marawi City Division; Sittie Amanie Moha. Kiram National High School (Php20,940,057.96) in Lanao del Sur I Division; and Balabagan Central Elementary School (Php20,900,000.00) in Lanao del Sur II Division.
Meanwhile, 1-storey with-classroom buildings funded under 2020 Contingent Fund (CF) are being constructed at Banga Primary School (Php4,228,179.25) and Datu Macaorao Elementary School (Php4,328,179.25) in Marawi City Division.
While in Lanao del Sur I Division, buildings are being constructed at Camalig Elementary School Annex (Php4,328,179.25), Punod Primary School Annex (Php4,328,179.25), and Sultan Guro Elementary School (Php20,940,057.96).
For the covered courts, which are funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB), these will be constructed in the Divisions of Marawi City and Lanao del Sur I, particularly at Lake Lanao National High School (Php2,676,824.39) and Sultan Alimoddin Memorial National High School (Php2,763,281.75), respectively.
In line with the continued implementation of distance learning, the education ministry also distributed Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) materials and equipment on Nov. 15 and 16 at the Divisions of Lanao del Sur I and II, respectively.
The Schools Division Office received a smart television while each school was given digital duplicators, desktop computers, teachers’ kits, and learners’ kits such as books, charts, flashcards, and manipulative toys.
Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal stressed the MBHTE’s commitment to strengthen the Bangsamoro educational system and empower the education community.
“Let us continue working together towards providing quality, inclusive, and relevant education in the BARMM so that no Bangsamoro child will be left behind,” Iqbal earlier said. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
