COTABATO CITY— Minister Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) officially handed over a three (3) new fire trucks to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in a ceremony held on August 28, 2024 in this city.
The fire trucks, funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act, were designated for the municipalities of Upi and Barira in Maguindanao del Norte, as well as the Cotabato City Fire Protection office.
Alba highlighted the regional government’s commitment to prioritizing the safety of Bangsamoro constituents through local law enforcement. “This demonstrates that the MILG, on behalf of Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim, is responsive to the needs of our LGUs and partner agencies,” she said.
“Let these fire trucks serve as a symbol of the Bangsamoro Government’s cooperation and support. Whenever our people see these fire trucks, they should remember the commitment of the Bangsamoro Government,” she added.
Prior to the turnover ceremony, the MILG and BFP signed a memorandum of agreement to enhance collaboration and ensure efficient responses to the needs of communities.
BFP Regional Director Fire Senior Superintendent Kadil Acalul expressed gratitude to the BARMM government for their continued support and cooperation. “This event signifies our shared commitment to public safety. The success of the BFP in fire suppression, rescue operations, and other activities depends on our equipment, with fire trucks being one of the most crucial tools,” he said.
Also present at the ceremony were MILG Bangsamoro Director General Engr. Khalid Dumagay, Director of Interior Affairs Services Atty. Marvin Mokamad, OIC Provincial Fire Marshal FCINSP Ronald Ali Ampang, Acting City Fire Marshal FSINP Roan Nazylette Ali, Vice Mayor of Upi Wilfredo Ibañes, and Sittie Nor-Ain Dirangaren, representing the Municipality of Barira, among other local officials.
