COTABATO CITY—Health officials of the Bangsamoro Government said the region has already administered 100,100 vaccine jabs against Covid-19 among its priority groups as of Thursday, July 8.
Health Minister Dr. Bashary Latiph said during a press conference on Friday, June 15, that 71,846 individuals from the first priority group received their first inoculation, and 28,254 of them already completed their doses.
Dr. Latiph reiterated that the vaccines are effective and safe, and encouraged people to get inoculated if given the chance.
“Ang lahat ng ating nabakunahan ay wala silang na-experience na severe side effects,” Dr. Latiph said.
People in A1 group include frontline healthcare workers, A2 group include senior citizens, A3 include individuals with co-morbidities, and A4 are frontline workers in other essential sectors.
All of the region’s 24,428 frontline healthcare workers received their first dose, and 14,315 of them were fully vaccinated.
Dr. Latiph continually encouraged those who were given first dose to be vaccinated with the second dose in order to receive total immunity against the virus.
“Sana ang ating mga kababayan na nagpabakuna ng first dose ay magpabakuna na rin ng second dose para at least magkaroon na sila ng total immunity laban sa pandemyang ito,” Dr. Latiph said.
Vaccination in the region started in the first week of March for the provinces of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur. A week after, vaccination commenced in the island provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, while frontline workers in Basilan received their vaccine jabs starting mid-March.
Since then, the BARMM received a total of 133,200 doses of vaccines, 12,000 doses of which were received this week.
Meanwhile, the region logged 39 fresh cases as of July 8, which makes BARMM’s total cases at 8,855. It also recorded 87 new recoveries which adds up the region’s recovery rate at 89.42 percent, or 7,919 total recoveries. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
