COTABATO CITY—Residents of two towns in Lanao del Sur will soon benefit from BARMM’s MAFARLENGKE Trading Center and Multipurpose Building with Solar Dryer.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) held a simultaneous ground-breaking ceremony on June 22 for two infrastructure projects in the towns of Masiu and Ditsaan-Ramain of the said province.
MAFAR LDS Chief Agriculturist Engr. Abdulgaphar Sansarona emphasized the importance of the project benefiting the residents and neighboring barangays.
“Once the project is completed, farmers from outside Masiu will no longer need to enter the town to sell their produce,” Sansarona said, highlighting the convenience and efficiency the trading center will bring to agricultural trade in the province.
The MAFARLENGKE Trading Center which will be built strategically in a location along Masiu highway for easy access to residents is worth Php3.8 million and aimed to support the value chain program and uplift the livelihoods of local Ranao farmers.
The Multipurpose Building with Solar Dryer, worth Php4.3 million, is expected to provide crucial support and resources to the former combatants and farmers affected by past conflicts and help them rebuild their livelihoods and improve agricultural practices.
The Ministry said by incorporating solar drying technology, the Multipurpose Building will enable farmers to effectively dry their crops, ensuring higher quality and longer shelf life for their produce.
Accordingly, these initiatives in BARMM strengthen the value chain program as well as demonstrate the Government of the Day’s commitment to uplifting communities and ensuring a brighter future for Bangsamoro farmers. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
