LAMITAN CITY—Fifty units of modest houses worth P42.5 million will be benefit Mujahideen and members of the women sector in Bulanza village, Lantawan in Basilan.
On March 8, 2024, the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Human Settlement and Development (MHSD) led the groundbreaking event of the housing project.
MHSD Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra assured the beneficiaries of BARMM’s commitment to providing decent homes to vulnerable Bangsamoro, emphasizing the government’s aspiration to reach every corner of the region with its projects.
“We are here to deliver this project with gratitude. We are pleased with the leadership of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) as exemplified by the Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, ensuring that our projects extend to every part of the Bangsamoro area,” Barra said.
“We hope that no Bangsamoro will be left behind in all BARMM projects, particularly those led by the MHSD. We are pleased to be with you, and we ask for your prayers and cooperation as we serve and are part of the Bangsamoro government,” he added.
Mayor Nasser Abubakar expressed heartfelt gratitude to Minister Hamid Aminoddin Barra and the Bangsamoro government, committing to completing the construction of the project within six months and ensuring its successful turnover.
“Kung kaya ng ibang munisipyo one year, dapat kaya natin ng six month. Ang kailangan ko lang cooperation ng Bulanza’s constituents para naman mabibigyan ang mga ibang barangay na humahangad din magkaroon ng pabahay,” Abubakar said.
[If other municipalities can complete it in one year, we should be able to do it in six months. All I need is the cooperation of Bulanza’s constituents so that other barangays that also aspire to have housing can receive them.]
MHSD Provincial Director Ibrahim Haruddain shared also the significant impact of the MHSD’s housing project on the siblings of mujahideen fighters in the area, who previously could not afford decent housing.
The housing project is part of BARMM Chief Minister Ebrahim’s enhanced 12-point priority agenda, which is funded under the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) of 2024. (Majid Nur/BIO)
