SPECIAL GEOGRAPHIC AREA— The result of the ‘YES’ votes during the 2019 plebiscite is continuously creating positive ripple effects in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the regional government’s KAPYANAN or Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan program broke ground for the construction of 100 core shelters in Carmen Cluster – with 50 houses to be built in Barangay Kibayao and the other 50 in Barangay Manarapan.
With a lot area of about 120 square meters, the three-bedroom shelters will feature a dining and living room, and a front porch. It will be equipped with solar power and a water system to make living more convenient.
KAPYANAN is one of the flagship programs of the Office of the Chief Minister which provides core shelters primarily for the poorest of the poor in the region, internally displaced persons, and those who lost their loved ones during war.
Community facilitators of KAPYANAN are working closely with local officials and other partner implementers to ensure that core shelters will be awarded to those who deserve it.
Project Development Officer Jordan Katug said in an exclusive interview that projects in the Carmen Cluster are exceptionally well implemented due to proper coordination and a sense of care from their partner implementers.
“Ang maganda sa proyekto natin dito ay nakikita natin yung pagpapahalaga dito kaya naipapatupad ng maayos,” Katug said.
Moreover, KAPYANAN Project Management Office disclosed that implementation of the same project is also ongoing at the barangays of Tupic, Kitulaan, and Langocan in Carmen Cluster. Once completed, it will benefit 150 recipients. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
