MARAWI CITY — The Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Public Works (MPW)- Lanao del Sur’s 2nd District Engineering Office (LDS 2nd DEO) held a mass contract signing here on October 25, 2024, to officially start multiple infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity and public services across the province.
The projects, totaling P226,338,204.73, include five (5) regular infrastructure undertakings for 2024, two (2) for 2023, two (2) additional projects under the 2023 Special Development Fund, and one (1) project funded by the 2023 Transitional Development Impact Fund. These range from road construction and concreting to the establishment of a bridge in Barangay Proper Uyaan, Madamba, and a staff house for the DEO in Malabang.
“This is not just an ordinary contract signing. It is the start of delivering a promise to the Bangsamoro people, a result of our collective struggle, sacrifices, and negotiations,” stated MPW Deputy Minister and OIC-District Engineer Abdul Maomit Tomawis.
He emphasized the importance of efficient implementation, noting that both local and international stakeholders closely observe the impact of these initiatives as part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) commitments.
“In MPW-LDS 2nd DEO, almost all our projects for 2024 have been fully procured, and contracts have been secured with contractors,” he added.
Imran Malawani, representing BJMA Construction, pledged commitment from the contractors’ side.
“Sisipagin po natin na maimplement lahat nang maganda at maayos yung panalangin ng BARMM,” he said.
[We will work diligently to implement everything properly to fulfill BARMM’s vision.]
