MARAWI CITY — The Ministry of Public Works met with local government units (LGUs) of Lanao del Sur’s Second District on October 25, 2024, to evaluate ongoing infrastructure projects, address implementation challenges, and coordinate efforts for efficient completion and quality standards across the district.
“The main purpose of this coordination meeting] is to align our efforts in delivering infrastructure to our communities in Lanao del Sur’s 2nd District. With many monitoring our work, project implementation is progressing just as quickly, especially with the involvement of the LGUs,” said MPW Deputy Minister and OIC-District Engineer Abdul Maomit Tomawis.
Tomawis shared that after completing coordination meetings with contractors and suppliers, the Ministry is now collaborating with LGUs to understand their needs better and identify ways to provide support.
He also explained that they prioritize projects according to the Bangsamoro Development Plans and that this meeting serves to assess their progress—reviewing how many projects have been completed and whether they are following the established plans.
MPW has conducted a similar series of activities in previous years, such as meetings with planners and the municipal development council, where the infrastructure needs of the Bangsamoro communities were discussed.
“Now, the Ministry is checking how many of these projects were successfully implemented, and so far, we are seeing promising results,” said Tomawis.
On the same day, MPW signed a mass contract with its winning private contractors to officially start the construction of 10 projects aimed primarily at improving connectivity in the district, with a total budget of P223.3 million. (Norjana Malawi/BIO)
