COTABATO CITY—In preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSK) elections, a simultaneous prayer peace rally was held on Oct. 18, in different parts of the Bangsamoro region.
Participants from the Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the city’s Local Government Unit, civil society organizations, and multi-stakeholders gathered on Wednesday morning at the city plaza.
“Ang hangarin ng activity na ito na magkaroon nang mapayapang election. Magkakaroon nang mapayapang election sa pamamagitan ng mga tulong, support, and commitment niyo,” MPOS Director-General Atty. Al-Rashid Balt said.
[This activity aims for a peaceful election. There will be a peaceful election with your help, support, and commitment.]
“Through our collaboration, we can attain peace and orderly election. The election is one of the causes of conflict in a community, so let’s not wait for it to increase,” Balt said.
Apart from Cotabato City, the prayer peace rally was also conducted in the provinces of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Special Geographic Area (SGA), Lanao del Sur, Basilan, and Sulu.
