COTABATO CITY— Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH) will publish its first-ever coloring books to feature the rich Bangsamoro culture and heritage in celebration of National Arts Month.
The book will include the Top 20 illustrations of BCPCH’s Digital Artwork Competition, carrying the theme “Ani ng Sining, Bayang Malikhain.”
This contest mainstreams Bangsamoro’s artistic talents and unique styles, promoting a broader recognition of the region’s culture, identity, and heritage.
Under Presidential Proclamation No. 683 series of 1991, National Arts Month commemorates diverse Filipino heritage, culture, and artistic excellence every February.
As the regional cultural arm of the interim government, the BCPCH localizes the theme of the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCAA) to reflect the artistic part of Bangsamoro culture.
Alesa Krista Valensoy-Enriquez, Planning Officer II, emphasized on Feb. 16 that the competition’s visual representation interests a more inclusive audience.
“The recipients of the coloring books, especially those not well-versed in our culture, and the community as a whole, will be engaged,” Enriquez said.
“This particularly aids the younger generations, who prefer artworks rather than long narratives,” she added.
Extended until February 26, the online tournament is open to all BARMM residents who are amateur artists.
Aside from the Top 20 shortlisted works with prizes amounting to P1,700 each, two lucky winners for the most shared and most reacted entries, respectively, will win P3,000 each.

Fairdauz Jamaila Sucol, Community Affairs Officer II, stated that as soon as the coloring books are finished, they will be incorporated into their Lakbay Kultura program activities.
BCPCH’s Lakbay Kultura is a cultural outreach program that fosters cultural awareness and solidarity.
These initiatives align with the fifth development goal under the 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan, which is centered on preserving and recognizing rich and diverse Bangsamoro culture and identity. (Johamin Inok/BIO)
