COTABATO CITY—A new hub for cultural training and exhibitions is set to sustain and celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage following the Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage’s (BCPCH) groundbreaking here on Nov. 18, 2024.
The Training and cultural hall, worth P32 million, will be built in Barangay Lugay-Lugay, Bagua I, in this city. It aims to foster a deeper appreciation of Bangsamoro heritage.
BCPCH Chairperson Salem Lingasa emphasized the project’s cultural significance, stating, “This groundbreaking is more than just a ceremony—it is evidence of our dedication to preserving the identity, history, and legacy of the Bangsamoro people for generations to come.”
Lingasa also reminded South Ironrock Corporation, the project’s contractor, to adhere to the signed agreement, stressing its importance as a lasting legacy for the Bangsamoro people.
Barangay Chairman Mohammad Modifh Midtimbang expressed gratitude to the Bangsamoro government for selecting his barangay for the project.
“This is historic for our barangay because this is where the knowledge of our culture will come from and will give us opportunities, especially for the youth,” Midtimbang said.
Meanwhile, South Ironrock Corporation, represented by Charlie Via, assured the BCPCH of their commitment to completing the project according to government standards and specifications.
Once completed, the Training and Exhibition Hall will host exhibitions, cultural training sessions, and educational programs, serving as a vital resource for cultural preservation and community development in the Bangsamoro region. (Majid Nur/BIO with reports from BCPCH)
