LUGUS, Sulu — In a significant stride towards community empowerment, the Bangsamoro Government recently unveiled a one-storey multi-purpose training center for the Tausug people in Barangay Tingkangan, island municipality of Lugus.
The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) spearheaded the event on May 5, with participation of esteemed figures such as Deputy Minister Aldin Asiri, Sulu Provincial Director Atty. Najira Hassan, Lugus Municipal Administrator Hussein Aming, Tingkangan Barangay Chairman Aljihad Hadji Kadil, and former Member of Parliament Sahie Udjah.
This initiative, in line with Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim’s 12-point priority agenda, aims to foster inclusive development and meaningful engagement for the diverse populace of the Bangsamoro and establish appropriate institutions towards a self-sustaining and inclusive development of the women, youth, and other vulnerable sectors.
Director Hassan emphasized that it is the second multi-purpose training center turned over by the ministry in Sulu Province with ten (10) other centers in other provinces of BARMM.
During the ceremony, Municipal Administrator Aming expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Bangsamoro Government, MHSD Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra, and former MP Udjah, who funded the project under his Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) 2021, for their unwavering support in bringing this vital project to fruition.
“Maraming salamat sa nag-initiate nitong project. Ang mayor at vice-mayor ng Lugus ay palagi nilang sinasabi na kahit saan sa 17 barangays ng Lugus [ipatayo ang mga projects] ang mahalaga ay mayroong maibigay dito na mga project,” Aming said.

Tingkangan Barangay Chairman Aljihad Hadji Kadil also extended his thanks to BARMM for this valuable resource that promises to enhance community events and serve as a hub for collective growth and development.
“Magsukul ha pagkari niyu iban bang man magmumfaat in building ini mausal sin mga raayat ha kawman, bang man mapakay namu ha hikasannang namu katan dii,” Hadji Kadil said.

Notably, MHSD Deputy Minister Asiri emphasized the pivotal role of the center in nurturing the minds of the Bangsamoro youth, enhancing their skills, and equipping them with knowledge for a brighter future.
Meanwhile, MHSD Director General Esmael Ebrahim also stressed that the BARMM is persistently engaged in Jihad by offering projects for the benefit of its citizens.
“We are continuously doing this Jihad by providing projects to our municipalities in the whole Bangsamoro region. We are praying that we can provide more project in your municipality,” Ebrahim said.
Meanwhile, a groundbreaking ceremony was also held in Barangay Siet Higad, Panamao town on May 4, for the construction of a human development training center, a 2023 TDIF project of MP Matarul M. Estino. (Alline Jamar Undikan/BIO)
