COTABATO CITY — To be able to apply for a permanent position in any government office, one of the basic requirements is an eligibility that can be obtained after passing an examination administered by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
For Aldha Kanakan, being enrolled in a review center can be highly beneficial for those who will be taking the Civil Service Examination (CSE), however, not everyone has the opportunity to do so.
Fortunately, Kanakan was able to join the four-day free civil service exam online review hosted by the Office of the Chief Minister – Human Resource Management Division (OCM-HRMD).
In partnership with the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro (DAB) and the Personnel Development Committee (PDC), OCM-HRMD conducted the said review on February 5-6 and on March 5 and 9, with topics covering Current Issues and Basic Legal Knowledge, Mathematics, General Information and Logic, and English.
“Honestly po ang free online review ng OCM-HRMD lang po ang naging preparation ko para sa CS exam. Ang lectures and short quizzes sa apat na araw pong iyon ay naging malaking tulong para ma-refresh po kaming mga reviewee,” said Kanakan, a contract of service employee from the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE).
“Good impact din po para sa akin na approachable and encouraging po ang lecturers, pati na rin po ang organizers,” she added.
Kanakan successfully passed the recently held CSE last March, along with 13 other non-eligible BARMM employees who participated in the free review, namely: Noriema S. Bacar, Alibaser A. Datumanguda, Nizar H. Hamid – MBHTE, Farhanie A. Husain, Najib A. Haron, Sittie Haya T. Ito, Abdul Khalich M. Makabando, Salal M. Macabando, Alf Patrick P. Pino, Prince Tungko Famayr A. Sanday, Suhayra A. Subod, and Amir Ali E. Usman.
Nakakapag-review lang ako after work, weekdays, and holidays kapag meron, at tamang-tama ang schedule ng free online review ng OCM-HRMD nung time na ‘yun kasi during weekdays and holidays.”
“Maraming salamat po for the initiative and effort to make the free online review possible and available para sa lahat. Sobrang na-appreciate po namin. Sana mas madami pa pong matulungan ang OCM- HRMD sa mga future takers and passers ng CS exam,” said Mokammad from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).
OCM-HRMD Chief Lady Hanifah Mindalano-Alonto said that they organized the free review series as soon as they learned about CSC offering slots for the CSE in BARMM.
“We initially opened it only to those currently engaged in BARMM Government as Contract of Service Personnel but later on made it available to everyone para tulong na rin po sa lahat,” Alonto said.
“The recorded lectures of the review were also posted in our FB page for those who will be taking the exam again or who may join the next batch of CSE,” she added.
A total of 12,179 examinees across the country passed the March CSE, with BARMM posting the highest passing rate at 32.40% or 104 passers out of 321 examinees. (Johanie Mae Kusain/BIO)
