COTABATO CITY— Some 1,447 residents from Lanao del Sur have received financial assistance from the Ministry of Social Services and Development‘s (MSSD) various social protection programs.
On Sept. 8-11, MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie went to the province to lead the simultaneous payout of the programs which included the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Kupkop Program, and the Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan (ABaKa) Program.
Under the SLP, a total of 956 small business owners were each granted with Php15,000.00 financial assistance. Meanwhile, 183 orphans each received Php5,000.00 under the Kupkop Program.
For the ABaKa Program, Php10,000.00 were each given to 62 college students, Php3,000.00 each to 163 high school students, and Php2,000.00 each to 84 elementary pupils.
The beneficiaries were from the municipalities of Bacolod, Madalum, Madamba, Ganassi, Pualas, Pagayawan, Calanogas, Picong, Binidayan, Bayang, Tubaran, Lumbaca Unayan, Lumbayanague, Butig, Sultan Domalondong.
Minister Jajurie explained that because of the region being autonomous, the Bangsamoro Government were able to create programs that are responsive to the needs of its people.
“Bahagi po ang lahat ng ito (mga programa) ng isang bagong social welfare agency (MSSD). Nung 2019, nung magpalit ng administration, nagkaroon po tayo ng isang entity at isang bagong gobyerno na kakaiba po ang kapangyarihan,” Jajurie said.
“Mas malakas at mas maraming resources na ang available sa atin. At ngayon, natatamasa po natin ang iba’t ibang programa ng MSSD na iba sa meron noon,” she added. (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
