SPECIAL GEOGRAPHIC AREA—Since the inception of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in 2019, people have witnessed the continues rise of various infrastructures projects across the region, including government centers.
On Monday, Dec. 4, a new addition to the region’s stunning government centers was unveiled following the inauguration of the two-storey field office of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) in Datu Binasing, Pigcawayan Cluster of the Special Geographic Area (SGA).
SGA Field Director Zaiton Abas emphasized that the new building would essentially serve as venue for providing services to the SGA— comprising 63 barangays carved out of Cotabato Province after the successful plebiscite in 2019.
“This building is testament of our commitment to the people and would be very helpful in improving the governance in SGA,” Abas said during the ceremony.
With a budget of P15.5-million funded from the annual block grant, the building boasts an exquisite architectural design with well-defined details that reflect the region’s unique cultural identity. Its combination of green and white colors makes a perfect blend for both interior and exterior design.
The facility is equipped with comfort and shower rooms, conference room, offices, and a rooftop—an ideal place to enjoy fresh air and the lush greenery surroundings.
Junalyn Sumlay of SGA Development Authority, representing Administrator Butch Malang, expressed optimism that the new building will become a home to address governance concerns in the area.
“I hope that the new building will serve as a home in addressing concerns and will pave way in fulfilling our mandates,” Sumlay said.
She added that with the inauguration of the said facility, government services in the SGA is now literally closer to the people.
The construction of the facility is aligned with the 12-point priority agenda of Cheif Minister Ahod Ebrahim in building strategic infrastructure to spur economic growth in the BARMM. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
