COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) continues to build infrastructure projects in the region, with Pigcawayan Cluster in the region’s Special Geographic Area (SGA) as the latest recipient of a public market worth P25-million.
MILG Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo led on Sunday, Feb. 12, the groundbreaking ceremony for the market which will rise in Barangay Datu Binasing.
The market is funded through the Bangsamoro Appropriation Act 2020 contingency fund, under the Bangsamoro Local Economic Support Services (BLESS) of MILG.
Sinarimbo shared that the construction of the public market “served as the revival of the pre-conflict market which was destroyed during the insurgencies.”
Addressing the local executives of cluster barangays who were present during the ceremony, Sinarimbo stressed that Bangsamoro Government is unable to put up a market in every barangay hence he encouraged them to be strategic to maximize the opportunity in the new market.
“Pagsumikapan natin na yung mga available stalls ay makakuha ang bawat barangay para sa kanilang negosyante upang magkaroon ng pagkakataon ang bawat isa,” the Minister added which was welcomed by the local executives.
“On behalf of the SGA Pigcawayan Cluster Development Alliance, we recognize that establishment of this public market plays a critical role in the development of the community hence we are grateful to BARMM for this project,” said Datu Binasing Barangay Chairman Johan Sinarimbo.
“Umaasa kami na maging instrumento ang public market na ito upang maiangat ang pamumuhay ng bawat mamayang Bangsamoro,” Chairman Sinarimbo added.
SGA Administrator Mohammad Kelie Antao and Lieutenant Colonel Edgardo Vilches of the 34th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, along with local officials also joined the event. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
