COTABATO CITY—A total of 811 people received aid, with 431 recipients from Barira on Feb. 29 and 380 recipients from Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, on March 2, from Project Tulong Alay sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan’s (TABANG) medical outreach program.
The outreach program aims to offer free consultations, check-ups, laboratory testing services, dental services, minor surgeries, and “operation tuli” to the Bangsamoro people.
Sittie Majadiyah Omar, the head of Project TABANG’s Health Ancillary Services Unit, led the medical outreach program for the residents and other nearby communities.
“Project TABANG will continue to provide free medicines for Bangsamoro people, including Lumad and Christians,” Omar said.
Project TABANG is one of the special programs of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, ensuring that appropriate assistance is given to the Bangsamoro communities, comprising health, livelihood, and humanitarian services.
These activities are supported by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Regional Medical and Dental Unit of the Police Regional Office for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RMDU-PROBAR), the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Parang, the Local Government Unit (LGU), and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of the municipalities of Parang and Barira.
Additionally, on February 26, the said initiative was opened to the general public or walk-in clients to deliver free medications to Bangsamoro residents in need every Wednesday and Monday. (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
