COTABATO CITY – A new multipurpose building named after the founding chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and a modern public terminal will soon become visible in Guindulungan, Maguindanao following a successful groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Feb 11.
The building worth P2.5-million is part of the Salamat Excellence Award for Leadership (SEAL) conferred to its town mayor Midpantao Midtimbang Jr. during the 3rd BARMM anniversary last month, while the public terminal worth P25-million is funded through the Ministry of Interior and Local Government’s (MILG) Bangsamoro Local Economic Support Service (BLESS) Program.
MILG Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo along with Mayor Midpantao Jr. led Friday’s ceremony.
Sinarimbo characterized the terminal as one of the moderns transportation hub. “This public terminal has complete facilities and features coffee shops, public bath system, and will also house tourism center and display center where locals may showcase their products,” he explained.
The minister also lauded the leadership of the municipal government citing that “they are not only recipient of the project but performance wise, they are deserving.”
“Your local executive is one of the six recipients of SEAL award—the highest form of award given by regional government to local chief executives and this is a manifestation of a good leadership which emulated from the founding chairman of MILF,” said Sinarimbo.
In response, the municipal mayor, who is grateful for the positive development in his town, thanked the Bangsamoro Government and his constituents for the overwhelming support.
“With this development, we will be promoting our place as center of trade and commerce. Hopefully, we can expand in other barangays as well,” Mayor Midtimbang said.
During the ceremony, the initial check amounting to P12.5 million for the construction of the two infrastructures was handed over to the local government unit. (Abdullah Matucan/BIO)
