COTABATO CITY—Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on Tuesday, Sept. 27, turned over laboratory apparatus such as microscope and human torso worth of Php600,000.00 to six (6) schools in this city.
The recipient schools are Cotabato City National High Schools (CCNHS) such as the Main Campus and Rojas-Site, Cotabato State University-Laboratory High School, Coland System Technology, Inc., Shariff Kabunsuan College, and Dr. P. Ocampo College.
The activity was one of the Ministry’s flagship programs which is to assist students and teachers, including capacity building for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Program thru provision of laboratory apparatus to selected schools in BARMM.
“This endeavor is a continuous effort to support students and teachers, especially those in the remote areas, with less equipment and capacity. It is our way of supporting the science education system, so we can produce numerous S & T human resources that would help in the socio-economic development and a progressive Bangsamoro region,” said MOST Minister Engr. Aida Silongan.
“This year, we will be completing the turn-over of laboratory apparatus, amounting to Php3-million, to 30 schools in the region. We will continue to provide more laboratory apparatus across the region in the coming years,” the Minister added.
CCNHS Rojas-Site Principal Cecilia Omar said, “we are glad to welcome you to this turn over ceremony of laboratory apparatus. Indeed, BARMM’s generosity that reached us has added to our confidence in addressing the learning loss brought about by the 2-year health crisis.”
“This gives us support for a good start which will surely, inspire not only the learners but also the teachers in the achievement of quality education which we have been striving for,” she stressed.
Another turning over of the same equipment will be held this month for schools in Special Geographic Area (SGA). (Majid Nur/BIO)
