BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi – On the last day of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Anniversary celebration, Jan. 26, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) delivered several science laboratory apparatus, STARBOOKs, and android tablets to eligible recipients in this town.
Badria Lidasan, MOST-BARMM Executive Assistant IV, led the distribution of the items in collaboration with the Ministry’s provincial office in Tawi-Tawi.
In her message, Lidasan expressed her excitement, highlighting the achievement of MOST-BARMM in reaching remote municipalities in Tawi-Tawi and personally handing over the items to school beneficiaries.
“Ito ang BARMM, ang Moral Governance. Sa BARMM inclusive tayo, magkasama tayo,” Lidasan said, noting that even in the absence of MOST Minister Aida Silongan due to scheduling constraints, they were still able to personally deliver the apparatus.
She also shared her dreams for Tawi-Tawi, encouraging hope and determination, saying, “Wag tayo mawalan ng pag-asa kahit nasa malayo tayo. Pagsikapan natin upang magkaroon ng Scientists ang Tawi-Tawi. Andito ang MOST, may mga program tayo upang makasuporta, tulad ng BASE (Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education).”
A total of five (5) sets of science laboratory apparatus, including a human torso model, compound led microscopes, dissecting kits and skeletal models, were turned over to school heads who applied and qualified for the grant.
Additionally, seven (7) sets of Science and Technology Academic and Research- Based Openly-Operated Kiosks (STARBOOK), containing hundreds of thousands of digitized resources in various formats designed to reach those with limited or no access to Science and Technology information sources, were handed to two schools in Tandubas and one each each in Simunul, Sitangkai, Tabawan, Panglima Sugala and Bongao.
The first set of BASE grantees in Tawi-Tawi also received android tablets from MOST-BARMM. During the ceremony, it was announced that scholarships are open for graduating grade 12 students aiming for Science and Technology course in college.
