BASILAN – Sixty (60) members of Local Youth Development Council/Office (LYDC and LYDO) in Basilan underwent a 2-day Mandatory and Continuing Training from the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) on Nov. 16-17.
Conducted in partnership with the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC), the activity sought to empower the youth leaders as useful conduit in community development. Participants were from Lamitan City and the municipalities of Sumisip, Tuburan, and Maluso.
Local Government Operations Officer Amira Fatma Nowanghan emphasized the importance of the role of LYDC and LYDO members in community development to effectively serve the youths in Basilan.
“Know who you are as a leader and know how to better serve the youth because their voices can be heard through you,” Nowanghan added.
Meanwhile, BYC Public Relation Officer Amirto Agao assured that the Commission is ready and always willing to serve the Bangsamoro youth in any program and initiatives they will conduct in the future.
“Ang BYC po, bilang coordinating and policy-making body in all matters affecting youth, ay handa pong tumulong sa ating kabataan,” Agao said.
Nurhan Abirin, one of the participants, said he is grateful to the Bangsamoro Government for conducting such activity for the youths in Basilan province.
(Bangsmoro Information Office)
