DAVAO CITY—Minister of Public Order and Safety (MPOS), Hussein Muñoz, stated that the achievements of the five finalists of the Bangsamoro Peace Champions are worth sharing as legacies of peace during the awarding ceremony on Dec. 7 in this city.
Minister Munoz expressed, “To our finalists, let it be known that your tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed. Your unwavering commitment to peace has touched the lives of countless individuals and communities.”
He continued, “Your stories resonate with hope and promise, and they inspire us all to believe in the power of peaceful co-existence despite the odds.”
The Minister emphasized that peace goes beyond the absence of conflict, highlighting the importance of actively seeking understanding and respect, and encouraged the finalists’ stories to serve as a reminder that peace is an achievable reality through unity, strength, and resilience.
2023 Bangsamoro Peace Champ, Jalalodin Mustari, 25, from Marawi, a founder of Aretes Textiles Enterprise and the champion, received a cash prize of P100,000.
He said his commitment to the Bangsamoro will continue even after winning.
“I will continue my journey as a peace advocate in Bangsamoro. I will use my talent to change the narrative for the Bangsamoro vision. I will give some of my money to the recent bombing victims and to my partners in Meranaw Textiles,” Mustari said.
He expressed his intention to utilize the platform to create additional income opportunities for partner communities, addressing current issues and leveraging this effort to promote peace.
Meanwhile, Jainab Alfad Abdulmajiid, Mahatma M. Sangacala, Hasna Keson Arap, and Norhamin Kamidon Singh, all honored as finalists, each received P50,000 along with a plaque of appreciation.
‘Bangsamoro Peace Champions’ is an annual event to recognize the peace work initiatives of individuals that impacted the communities, especially at the grassroots level. (Majid Nur/BIO)
