COTABATO CITY — The KAPYANAN (Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan) Project broke grounds Monday, March 21, for the construction of 300-unit core shelters at six (6) barangays in Pikit Cluster, Special Geographic Area (SGA).
With a total worth of P198-million, the projects will be complete with solar powered light, water system component, street lights, and linear canal system.
The houses will be built at the barangays of Nalapaan, Nunguan, Balungis, Gotokan, Macabual and Nabundas.
KAPYANAN is a special project of the Office of Chief Minister (OCM) which aims to provide decent houses to the poorest of the poor in the Bangsamoro region.
In an interview with Pikit Mayor Sumulong Sultan, who donated 1.5 hectare of lot, he said, “malaking tulong itong proyekto para mga kasamahan. Nasunog ang mga kabayahan at panamin sa barangay na ito dulot ng bakbakan sa pagitan ng militar at ng Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).”
“Malaki ang pasalamat namin sa BARMM Government sa pamumuno ni Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim dahil sa mabilis na pagtugon sa aming mga requests. Nag-apply din kami noon sa National Housing Authority (NHA), hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa dumarating,” Sultan said.
Meanwhile, Chairman Blah Alagasi of Barangay Nalapaan also extended his appreciation saying, “after we became part of BARMM, most of us are grateful because all of the supplies and projects from the BARMM have been delivered and received properly.”
“We can see how the BARMM government prioritized us regardless if we are whether Moro, Manobo (indigenous), or settlers,” Alagasi noted.
The housing projects are expected to be completed within eight (8) months. (Majid Nur/BIO)
