COTABATO CITY—After the week-long celebration of the 4th Founding Anniversary of BARMM, the Bangsamoro Government held a “kanduli” or “offering” on Friday, Jan. 27, in front of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) Building, inside the Bangsamoro Government Compound (BGC), in this city.
Spearheaded by the OCM, in coordination with the different BARMM ministries and offices, the kanduli was a thanksgiving for the smooth, peaceful, and successful celebration of this year’s founding anniversary.
Assistant Senior Minister Abdullah Cusain emphasized that the purpose of kanduli was primarily to thank the creator (Allah S.W.T) for all the blessings given to Bangsamoro Government.
“We should not forget to thank God (Allah S.W.T.) for all the blessings He gave to us, and for all the various achievements we reached after four (4) years of BARMM since its creation,” Cusain stressed.
Kanduli is a Maguindanaon term, which means “offering”, and is usually conducted during any celebrations to give thanks to Almighty God for the blessings He has extended.
The guests were served traditional cuisine, placed in a “bandiyaw” or big trey/platter covered with “turong” with guests sitting barefooted and crossed-legged on the floor.
It is also a form of praying to sustain blessings and prosperity. Moreover, the kanduli is also conducted for every good deed a Muslim brother has done for his brethren.
One of the attendees, Esmail Sumagka from the Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MOTC), said, “this kanduli shows the preservation of our own culture and tradition while promoting our unity as one Bangsamoro”. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
