COTABATO CITY—The Bangsamoro Government’s Sports Commission (BSC) awarded on Tuesday, Jan. 24, the winners of the Bangsamoro Sports Festival in celebration of the 4th BARMM Foundation Anniversary held at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC), inside Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) in this city.
The 7-day sports fest held included games such as basketball, baseball, football, fun shoot, Sepak Takraw, softball, and volleyball.
The event aimed to promote sportsmanship, develop skills, and build confidence and discipline of the young Bangsamoro athletes from the Bangsamoro region and neighboring regions, cities, and provinces such as Sarangani, South Cotabato, and General Santos City.
During the formal opening of the Sports Fest on Jan. 16, BSC Chairperson Doctor Arsalan Diamaoden expressed that the games were conducted to bring the spirit of sportsmanship and Camaraderie among players.
“I really do appreciate it if we can directly accept the outcome or the results of every game, and it’ll be a stepping stone for a new relationship and widely open communication that will promote the eradication of cultural and communication barriers,” Diamaoden once said.
The Team HSBA (Cotabato City) was hailed as the Champion in Basketball and received Php100,000.00 and a trophy; Team MPW (Ministry Public Works) Basilan as First Runner-up and received Php50,000.00 and a trophy; Team Doc Ilon as 2nd Runner-up and received Php30,000.00 and a trophy; and Team Millennial Tech as 3rd Runner-up received Php200,000.00 and a trophy.
For the Special Awards for Basketball, Jay Poral of Team HSBA was hailed as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Point Guard; Long Sulaik of Millenial Tech as Best Guard; Jomar Madayag of Team MPW Basilan as Best Power Forward; Den-Den Akmad of Team Doc Ilon as Best Forward; and Jay Dialogo of Team HSBA as Best Center.
For the Baseball game, the MSU-Maguindanao Baseball Team won as the Champion; Kauran Selection Baseball Team as 1st runner-up; and Gold Boy’s Baseball Team as 2nd Runner-up.
For the Football game, Team Sultan Kudarat Maguindanao (SKM) and Jolongs United Cotabato City won as champions in their respective categories.
Meanwhile, for the Fun Shoot game, Champions in different categories were Nurhashim Abdula for Pistol Competition Guest Open Category; MP Abdullah Hashim for the Member of Parliament Category; Yacob Gumander for Base Commander Category; Mon Salilaban for Battalion Commander Category; GS Masulot for Event-1 Relay Category; Coordinating Committee on Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) Team for Event-2 Relay Category won by; and Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Team for Event-3 Best Time Category.
For the Sepak Takraw Game, Team General Santos City won as the champion; Team Sarangani Province as 1st runner-up; and Team Tampakan of South Cotabato Province as the 2nd Runner-up.
Moreover, for the Volleyball game, the Champion was Team of Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) Cotabato City, while the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Spiker was Esmail Kasim of MAFAR Team; Best Server was Eddlemar Kasim of Team Tawi-Tawi; Best Setter was Ave Joshua Retamar of Team MAFAR; Best Blocker was Angelo Nicolas Almendras of Team MAFAR; and Best Digger was Vince Paler Lorenzo of Team MAFAR.
