COTABATO CITY—Delegates from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) showcased the regional government’s flagship programs and project the 25th Brunei-Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Ministerial Meeting on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Pontianak City, Indonesia.
Representing the leadership of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, the delegation was joined by Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) Mohammad Yacob, Minister of Environment, Natural, Resource and Energy (MENRE) Akmad Brahim and, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT) Abu Amri Taddik.
To realize the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025, said event sought to shift economic activities from resource extraction to higher levels of processing and value-added production and growth in trade, investment and tourism, as well as promoting environmental and socio-cultural education.
Among the discussed registered projects include Barter Trade, Marawi Sustainable City, Turtle Islands Wildlife Sanctuary Eco-Tourism promotion and co-management, and renewable energy investment.
Moreover, Chief Minister’s flagship projects such as Integrated Bangsamoro Greening Program on combating climate change, energy connectivity, adaptation to rapid technological disruption, food security and economic recovery from the impact of Covid-19 pandemic were also discussed in sub-regional meetings.
Joining the BARMM delegation also include MENRE Bangsamoro Director-General Atty. Badr Salendab, Forest Management Services Director Abdul-Jalil Umngan, and MTIT Director Hussien Biruar. (Johaira Sahidala/BIO)
