COTABATO CITY—As the Holy month of Ramadan comes to an end, the Bangsamoro Government gave recognition to the winners of the 4th BARMM Qur’an Recitation and Memorization Competition on Saturday here.
The competition was conducted to promote the recitation and memorization of the Qur’an, in which 11 schools divisions from the Bangsamoro region participated and demonstrated their skills and passion for the Holy book.
The activity, conducted in line with the month-long observance of Ramadan, was sponsored by the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) and implemented by the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education’s (MBHTE) Directorate General for Madaris Education. This was also made possible in collaboration with the Bangsamoro Darul Ifta’ (BDI) and the Office of the Wali of Bangsamoro.
“We organize this competition every Ramadan as a testament to the commitment and dedication of Muslims to deepen their knowledge of the Qur’an and connect with their faith [in the holy month of Ramadan],” said MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal.
The participants demonstrated exceptional talent and in-depth knowledge of the Qur’an, making the selection process challenging.
After a rigorous evaluation, the jury chose the following people as the winners in each category:
As for the Qur’an Memorization (Hifz) Male Category, Usama Ebrahim Abdullah of Maguindanao del Sur was hailed as the champion, with Al-Kaidz Pantao Jalil from Lamitan City securing 1st Place, and Abdulmohaimen Esmail Ali of Maguindanao del Norte earning 2nd Place.
In Qur’an Memorization (Hifz) for the Female Category, Faidza Hamza Talib from Marawi City secured the championship, while Zaheera Daniel Lucas from Cotabato City claimed 1st Place, and Rawda Adil Lahmudin from Lanao del Sur attained 2nd Place. In the Mujawwadah Category or Qur’an recitation (male division), Kamarudin Zaidon from Cotabato City emerged as the champion, with Kaharudin Tasil from the Province of Maguindanao del Norte securing 1st Place, and Abdulah Muhammad Gandisa from Cotabato City attaining 2nd Place. The champions will receive P100,000 each, the first placers P75,000 each, and the second placers will be granted P50,000 each. They were also presented with certificates of achievement and prizes to commemorate their outstanding performance in the competition.
The Government of the Day extended its heartfelt congratulations to all participants of the Qur’an reading competition and for their commitment to spiritual growth during the sacred month of Ramadan.
“The Bangsamoro Education Ministry also commended these participants for their dedication to learning and understanding the teachings of the Qur’an,” Iqbal added.
This annual event not only highlights the importance of the Qur’an in the lives of Muslims but also serves as a reminder of the significance of continuous learning and spiritual development. (Johaira Sahidala/BIO)
