COTABATO CITY – The BARMM Regional Statistics Committee emerged as the 3rd placer for the Best Performing Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) during the 6th RSC Summit on Monday, October 25, via Zoom teleconference.
The annual conduct of this Summit, being part of the commemoration of National Statistics Month, bears the theme: “Speeding Economic Recovery Through innovative and Evidence-Based Local Development Planning”.
It is in recognition of the vital role of the RSC as the policy-making body on statistical matters at the local level.
“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the support and active participation of all members of the Regional Statistics Committee BARMM,” said Engr. Naser S. Usman, OIC-regional director of PSA-BARMM.
“Our congratulatory salute to all of you that made us received the third placer award (in the national level) on the recently concluded 6th Regional Statistics Committee Summit 2021,” Usman added.
Part of the summit was the discussion of relevant and emerging statistical issues and concerns at the subnational level, sharing of regional innovations and accomplishments in local statistics development, discussion of updates on the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), and gathering of relevant inputs for the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) 2018-2023 updates from the RSCs.
Dr. Claire Dennis S. Mapa, national statistician and civil registrar general of PSA, announced Davao region or Region XI as the Best RSC, bagging the 1st place and the “Breakthrough Award”–a special award.
Other awardees were Region IV-A (CALABARZON) as the 2nd placer; and Cordillera Administrative Region and Region II (Cagayan Valley) both ranked as the 4th placers.
These ‘Best RSC Awards’ were given to recognize RSCs that excelled in the performance of their functions from the third quarter of 2020 to the second quarter of 2021. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
