COTABATO CITY—Schools in the 11 schools divisions across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have started their Brigada Eskwela drive.
This is after the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) kicked off this year’s Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela for School Year (S.Y.) 2022-2023 on August 2.
With the theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral”, a week-long repair, maintenance, and cleanup activities of elementary and secondary schools are being conducted in preparation for the opening of classes on August 22.
This is in accordance with DepEd Order No. 34, s. 2022 titled School Calendar for S.Y. 2022-2023, which mandates all public elementary and secondary schools to implement Brigada Eskwela 2022 from August 1-26, 2022.
DepEd earlier announced that the full Face-to-Face (F2F) classes is set on November 2 after more than two years of blended learning due to the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal, who led the program launching for BARMM, encouraged all the school staff and stakeholders to participate in this activity.
Apart from the conduct of said activities, MBHTE also continues to distribute school supplies and learning kits for students and teachers.
MBHTE Information and Communication Division Chief Mobarak Pandi said, “as of now, nagsimula na rin silang (schools divisions) mag-coordinate with local government units upang mas mapaganda pa ang facilities ng ating mga silid-aralan. At ang MBHTE supply division ay patuloy na naghahandog ng mga school kits po.”
The Brigada Eskwela is an annual activity that typically includes general cleaning, repainting, and making necessary repairs in public schools where parents and teachers, including all members of the school community, work together to prepare schools for the opening of classes.
