LANAO DEL SUR—Farmer residents and commuters in Butig in this province will soon benefit from the two (2) road construction projects of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW).
A groundbreaking ceremony signaled the start of the the construction of said projects on Tuesday, Oct. 4, under the supervision of 2nd Engineering District of this province, and in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Butig.
The two (2) roads construction funded under the Bangsamoro Appropriation Act (BAA) are the (1) concreting of 1 kilometer Bayabao-Raya Road (Mipantao Section) with complete line canal worth Php33,940,000.00 and the (2) concreting of another 1 kilometer Raya to Malungun Road, which is a farm-to-market road (FMR) worth Php18-million.
Mayor Atty. Dimnatang Pansar expressed his gratitude to the entire leadership of BARMM Government, headed by Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, in their continuous infra-project support in the said municipality.
“Our hometown is historically memorable for almost 5 decades of becoming an on-and-off battle ground of conflict and for our two leaders from the high ranking officials of the MILF burried here, our former Chairman Hashim Salamat and former Chief of Staff Aleem Aziz Mimbantas,” said Pansar.
He stressed that poor access to the road causes high transportation costs to the farmers and commuters.
“This outpouring of assistance from the regional Bangsamoro Government manifested their intention to develop our areas which was devastated by the conflict before,” Pansar added.
Assistant District Engr. Kamar Mauyag and Project Engr. Abdul Khalic Ondi mentioned their full support on the development of Butig town and the supervision of the construction of road projects.
“This [project] could soon benefit mainly the poor farmers and conflict-affected residents of Butig along with their high hopes that the road will help them alleviate their future living conditions,” Ondi stressed.
Meanwhile, Brgy. Chairman and also the President of Association of Barangay Chairman (ABC-President) of Bayabao Adam Hadji Amer emphasized: “we are very grateful to BARMM Government because this road projects of MPW will certainly be a big help for us residents and nearby villages in transporting our farmers goods for marketing and can be used in case of health emergency situations.”
Moreover, another infra-project, the Butig Water System Level III (Phase II) worth Php25-million, is currently under construction. The project shall be the source of safe and potable drinking water which could benefit three barangays in the said town. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
