COTABATO CITY—Department of Transportation (DOTr) officially turned over its functions and assets to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) on Saturday, March 27.
The transfer of functions was held through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony.
Also, to commemorate the 7th year anniversary of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) signing, the Ministry inaugurated the acquired one-unit speedboat worth Php8.5 Million.
Minister Dickson P. Hermoso said, “next year there will be another speedboat worth Php9.5M. The Marina can do their job as law enforcer, pertaining to registration of vessels safety at sea and increase collection of the BARMM.”
Moreover, part of the ceremony was the turning over of the 50-unit fiberglass motorized bancas from DOTr to MOTC.
“Today, we mark another monumental step toward peace, solidarity, and economic development as it high time to harness the economic potential of the Bangsamoro region toward the growth over all of this beloved country,” DOTr Sec. Arthur P. Tugade said via zoom, noting these will be distributed to qualified residents of BARMM.
Tugade added the bancas will not only serve as source of income, but can also be used for rescue and operation.
The MOTC has also accepted 50-unit desktop computers donated by BrownFont PR Agency and 25-unit of Negosyo cart project granted by Secretary Silvestre Bello of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim said in his video message: “We make sure we will align our all efforts in providing better transportation services with that of the national after all a better transportation mechanism plus necessary infrastructure support equals economic prosperity.” (Bangsamoro Information Office)
