COTABATO CITY – In its effort to address the financial challenges faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs), the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) recently disbursed cash assistance to 167 PWDs in Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte.
This initiative falls under MSSD’s Kalinga para sa may Kapansanan Program wherein indigent PWDs are entitled to receive a monthly allowance of P500 to support their basic needs.
During the three-day payout held from Nov. 11-13, each PWD received a lump sum of P1,500 each, equivalent to the assistance for the second quarter of the year.
Laila Kadir, MSSD Kabuntalan Municipal Social Worker Officer, emphasized the program’s intent to offer crucial aid and support to PWDs. The initiative recognizes the unique challenges faced by PWDs and strives to prioritize their well-being.
Kadir expressed the significance of the program, stating, “To serve is not only a job but it’s a life purpose. Ang laking tulong ang ating binibigay sa mga tao sa community lalo na sa vulnerable sector. Ginagawa natin ang ating trabaho hindi dahil sa trabaho kundi para lubos na makatulong ng mas makabuluhan.”
The same beneficiaries are slated to receive their allowance for the third and fourth quarters before 2023 ends.
The Bangsamoro Government, headed by Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim, is dedicated to making meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities, ensuring that their unique needs are not only acknowledged but actively addressed through provision of financial support. (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
