COTABATO CITY —To improve the livelihood of farmers and fisherfolks in Lanao del Sur, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) broke ground for the construction of first Ice Plant with cooler storage on Monday, June 13, at GMA Integrated Terminal, Barangay Poblacion, Marawi City.
With a total cost of Php30-Million, the project consists 648 square meters of building worth Php11.8-M, an ice plant with machinery worth Php13.3-Million, a delivery truck worth Php2-Million, a genset worth Php1.7-Million, and a transformer worth Php840,164.00, respectively.
MAFAR-LDS Chief Agriculturist Abdulgafar Sansarona emphasized the importance of the project in the town, saying, “once the project is completed, our farmers can store their fresh products, and our fishers can avail of ice blocks for a very minimal cost”.
Meanwhile, City Agriculture Officer Anisa Busara said they are grateful for being the pioneering beneficiary of ice plant.
“The project will be a big help not only for the farmers and fisherfolks but the whole community of Marawi City,” she said.
With the capacity of 10-tons, the construction of the building is expected to be finished within 120 calendar days by the CPG Contractor Services.
Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were MAFAR-LDS Chief of Fisheries Alnizar Dimaporo, MAFAR Chief of Engineering Section Engr.
