COTABATO CITY—More than 40 Bangsamoro farmers from the Municipality of Barira and Matanog in Maguindanao underwent a training on vegetable production under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) – Gender and Development Program on August 23-26.
The said training was focused on pumpkin planting, where Senior Agriculturist Ramil M. Timpolok and Agriculturist II Edris M. Kasabican served as resource speakers.
The resource speakers shared different methods and strategies for vegetable production and how to maintain and protect them against diseases caused by insecticides.
Actual demonstrations on the site and how to correctly use the equipment were also done during the training.
After the training, the participants received vegetable seeds and planting equipment.
“The seeds and equipment provided to them are expected to be their start-up to implement what they have learned in the said training,” one of the resource speakers said.
Moreover, Ayah Alih, one of the farmer-beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to MAFAR for giving them the knowledge that will help them grow their vegetables, and for providing them the equipment that could ease their agricultural activity. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO)
