Cotabato City (September 2, 2020) – Thirty-six (36) Local Government Operation Officers (LGOO) from the five provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region will undergo a training to mainstream the children’s rights in the planning and budgeting process of local government units (LGU).
Dubbed “Training of Trainers on Child-friendly Local Governance in BARMM”, the activity will run from September to November 2020. It will be conducted by the BARMM’s Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), in partnership with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
“Ang pinaka-objective nito ay ma-capacitate natin ang mga LGOOs at nang sa gayun maging effective sila sa pag-provide ng technical assistance, particularly on the mainstreaming of children rights, sa kani-kanilang assigned LGUs,” said MILG Program Director Engr. Khalid Dumagay during the activity’s launching ceremony on Wednesday, September 2, held in the city.
After the 3-months training, the LGOOs will then go down to the LGU level to be advocates of child-focused programs on the LGUs’ plan and budget operations. (Bureau of Public Information)
