COTABATO CITY— The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) on Thursday, Feb. 3, turned-over a water truck worth P4.9-milllion to help the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the transitory shelters in Marawi City.
The truck was funded under the Office of the Chief Minister’s Marawi Rehabilitation Program (MRP).
With a storage capacity of 8,000 liters, the truck is a component of MSSD’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Project under the MRP that was approved by its Program Steering Committee (PSC) during its first meeting in November 2020.
“With the advent of the Bangsamoro Government, talaga pong sinisikap natin na matulungan sila (IDPs) in all aspects, like itong tubig dahil iyan yung isa sa mga complaints nila […] kaya naisip natin na kumuha tayo ng sariling truck para tayo mismo ang magbigay sa kanila ng tubig,” said MRP Spokesperson Marjanie Macasalong.
Meanwhile, MSSD Minister Atty.
Prior to this, the MSSD implemented water rationing services in 2021 and its desludging services commenced this year, both in Sagonsongan Transitory Shelter.
BARMM Deputy Chief Minister Aleem Ali Solaiman, Cabinet Secretary Mohd Asnin Pendatun, and representatives from MRP Program Steering Committee members MP Hamid Aminoddin Barra, MP Anna Tarhata Basman, and MP Abdullah Macapaar were present during Thursday’s turnover ceremony. (Myrna Tepadan/BIO)
