Cotabato City (August 25, 2020)—A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD-BARMM) and Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) on Tuesday, August 25, in Cotabato City.
The MOA, which is intended to provide medical assistance for poor and indigent patients from the Bangsamoro region, was signed by MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie along with CRMC Chief of Hospital Dr. Helen P. Yambao.
A total of Php10 Million worth of financial support shall be lodged in CRMC to provide medical services to patients in BARMM. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
The AICS is a regular program of MSSD-BARMM that provides financial support to poor, marginalized and vulnerable sectors of the society within the region, including medical assitance.
Minister Jajurie said that the Ministry remains committed to assist and respond to the needs of the most vulnerable sectors in the Bangsamoro region.
“We hope that with the MOA with CRMC, the ministry will be able to provide timely and adequate medical assistance, especially during COVID-19 pandemic,” she added.
Jajurie further stated that MSSD will ensure that poor and indigent patients receive medical assistance as the ministry plans to expand partnership with other hospitals across the Bansgamoro regoin.
Meanwhile, Shirley Salik, CRMC Social Welfare Officer (SWO), said this partnership is significant and helpful, especially for the less fortunate people in the region.
“Napakamemorable ng MOA signing na ito since this is the first time CRMC will have an agreement with MSSD-BARMM to address the needs of the indigent and poor citizens,” Salik said. (Bureau of Public Information)
