COTABATO CITY — Mindanao State University (MSU) – Maguindanao Chancellor Dr. Bai Hejira Nefertiti Sinsuat Macalandong-Limbona met with BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Thursday, June 2, 2022.
Envisioned to be the premier innovative center of development in the region, the Chancellor’s visit aimed to discuss with Chief Minister Ebrahim the programs and projects of the MSU and commits to strengthen partnership for regional development.
The Chancellor and her team proposed three (3) development plans for the MSU such as Academic Center, Eco-tourism Development and Housing Project for faculties and staff as well as additional dormitory for students and seeking the assistance of BARMM to help its realization.
Accordingly, the academic center will cater students who are taking up Islamic Studies and Peace Education with commercial center in the premise, purposely to finance the sustainability of the center.
The Eco-Tourism Development, will serve as the demo farm, source of livelihood among localities, or laboratory hubs for key ministries in the region such as Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Tourism (MENRE), Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affair (MIPA), and others.
Moreover, the housing project for faculties and staff, and additional in-house dormitory for deserving students will aim to produce more future professionals in the region.
“Our plan will be a milestone for MSU and will be a trademark for BARMM in developing the academe and to produce more excellent Bangsamoro professionals in the different courses offered by MSU in the future,” Chancellor Limbona said.
Chief Minister Ebrahim mentioned that developing the academe or education is one of the government’s top priorities in the region.
“Provide us the concrete development plan for it, we will sit again together with our concern ministries or offices to discuss such plan and let us see what assistance they (Ministries) could offer,” Chief Minister said.
“MSU is close to me because I spend my first year in college in MSU Marawi,” the Chief Minister added.
