COTABATO CITY—President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos (PBBM) Jr. expressed his hopes for a triumphant parliamentary election next year.
“I am confident that the elections will be successful. And by successful, I mean that it will be peaceful. It will be accountable. It will be transparent in everything. This includes conflict-free polls with just results,” PBBM said during the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Mayors Conference on June 24 in Manila.
“It is difficult to achieve this sometimes; however, we will do our best, and hopefully, this will be the most peaceful one that we have seen yet,” he added, urging the active participation of local leaders in the country.
On May 6, Bangsamoro Government’s Spokesperson Mohd Asnin Pendatun stated during his Usapang Bangsamoro press conference the concerted efforts of the Government of the Day to prepare the BARMM for the regular regional government, including educating residents about the May 2025 polls.
Among these efforts are the initiatives of the Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO) through its Halalang Bangsamoro campaign to disseminate information about the Bangsamoro Electoral Code (BEC) and emphasize the importance of voter registration.
Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairperson George Erwin Garcia previously stressed on June 3 that Filipinos shall peacefully exercise their right to suffrage, saying, “Nobody should be disenfranchised—not under the present leadership, not under the present administration, and not under the present process or system.” (Johamin Inok/BIO)
