JOLO, Sulu – As part of its agenda in improving the access to quality and holistic education, the Bangsamoro Government turned-over a new 3-storey schools division office to the province of Sulu.
Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) Director General for Basic Education Abdullah Salik, Sulu Provincial Governor Abdusakur Tan, and Sulu Schools Division Superintendent Kiram Irilis led the turnover ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11.
In his message read by Salik, MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal said the building was constructed “to give security and protection, and adequate facilities to our colleagues in the Division office.”
“Sila ay may malaking gampanin sa pagpapatatag ng ating sistema ng edukasyon, at ang kanilang kaligtasan at kasiyahan ay isa sa ating mga pangunahing prayoridad,” Iqbal said.
Minister Iqbal emphasized that the Schools Division Office is vital in strengthening the education system in Sulu. It will also serve as a home to impartial and quality education system.
Meanwhile, Irilis expressed his gratitude to the education ministry for the successful turn-over of the new building.
“We thank BARMM for giving us this new schools division office building. Ito na ang pinakamagandang Schools Division Office building so far, (I think) sa buong BARMM,” Irilis said.
“Huwag kayong matakot na magbigay sa amin ng proyekto. Bibigyan namin itong priority para gumanda pa ang Sulu,” he added.
Sulu Provincial Governor Abdusakur Tan also gave thanks to MBHTE for providing the new Schools Division Office building in the province.
Worth P40-million, the building was funded under the Special Development Fund 2020 of the regional government. Aside from the new edifice, there is also an ongoing construction of 2-storey building consisting of 10 classrooms at Lapak Agricultural School in Siasi, Sulu.
Sulu Province currently has 39 high schools, 418 elementary schools, and 20 annexes. (Alline Jamar M. Undikan/BIO)
