COTABATO CITY—To guarantee an effective and efficient regulatory framework for air commerce, the BARMM’s Civil Aeronautics Board under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (CAB-MOTC) has formalized it’s partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Cotabato City on Aug. 4, 2023.
The collaboration focuses on the BARMM’s supervisory and jurisdictional control over crucial air industry players, such as air carriers, general sales agents, cargo sales agents, freight forwarders, and general sales agents operating within the region.
MOTC Minister Atty. Paisalin Tago pointed out that the agreement marks another milestone of the Government of the Day which hopes to unlock the city’s full potential in growth, development and poverty alleviation.
The lawyer-minister expressed his gratitude to the City Government of Cotabato, while emphasizing that the success of this partnership cannot be done alone by CAB-BARMM as it also requires the full support of LGU.
Tago, who is also a Member of the Parliament, hopes that all stakeholders operating under CAB-BARMM’s authority shall comply with the board’s regulations before obtaining permits from the city.
Meanwhile, Cotabato City Mayor Mohammad Ali “Bruce” Matabalao correspondingly assured the BARMM government that they will continue to support the Ministry’s mandates, particularly in the implementation and regulation of CAB-BARMM.
Developing a system of reliable and resilient air transportation, communications, commercial and other strategic infrastructure to spur economic growth in the region is one of the enhanced 12-Point Priority Agenda of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim for 2023-2025. (Johaira Sahidala/BIO)
