Cotabato City (October 11, 2019) – In line with its efforts to disseminate quality information to the Bangsamoro populace, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s Bureau of Public Information (BPI-BARMM) held a two-day media communications workshop on October 10-11 in Cotabato City.
The workshop was conducted in partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), which provided resource persons.
The workshop, participated in by the information officers and communication staff of the BARMM’s different ministries and offices, is part of the BPI-BARMM’s communications strategy development in providing quality information to the Bangsamoro people in terms of the Bangsamoro Government’s accomplishments, affairs, policies, and programs.
BARMM spokesman and Local Government Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo was optimistic that the workshop will provide a communications strategy “on how to make a new image for the region.”
“We look forward to the good results to erase the perception that BARMM is a chaotic place by producing balanced news dispatches for the region, through the guidance of the national government,” Sinarimbo said.
The resource persons from the PCOO provided lectures on the different platforms and strategies in communicating in the media, methods in producing news articles and web contents, video and photo handling, coverages and documentation, and basic layout and graphic design.
PCOO Undersecratary George Apacible said that the PCOO’s mandate is to engage and involve the citizenry and the mass media in order to enrich the quality of public disclosure.
“President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said that he would prioritize all communities across the country against prejudice and discrimination, and the threat of extremism regardless of ethnicity, religion and beliefs,” Usec. Apacible said.
