COTABATO CITY – Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) – Sulu Divisions Office completed the construction of 26 classrooms, amounting to Php50, 402, 250.40, for seven (7) schools in different municipalities of Sulu province.
On March 22-25, a team led by Alfhadar Pajiji, MBHTE Assistant Secretary for Special Programs and Projects, conducted a turnover ceremony of the said school buildings together with Engr. Nurhasim Abdula, Assistant Head of School Building Program-Project Management Office (SBP-PMO), and Dr. Kiram Irilis, Al-Hadj, Schools Division Superintendent of Sulu.
In his message read by Pajiji, Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal said that the school buildings turned over by the regional office to Sulu Divisions Office exemplifies the commitment of the Bangsamoro Government in improving the education system of the region.
“The provision of quality school facilities to our students, and making our schools spaces for learning and growth are highlighted in the Ministry’s 12- point priority agenda,” Iqbal stressed.
Amidst the health crisis affecting the delivery of services, Iqbal urged the Bangsamoro education community to continue its support to the education ministry and the rest of the BARMM’s leadership.
“I pray that you will support us as we set the strategic direction for realizing a balanced, accessible, and inclusive education structure […] as we move forward, I am confident we will make significant and positive changes to the BARMM education system,” he added.
The construction of the said school building projects was subsidized under the Basic Education Facility Fund (BEFF) 2018.
Additionally, the education ministry also conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of two-storey buildings with 10 classrooms for Higher Education of Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trade (HBSAT) at barangay Asturias in Jolo, Sulu.
The classroom project is set to be the Supervised Institution Building of HBSAT, which costs Php17, 625, 313.30. It was funded through the Bangsamoro Appropriations Acts (BAA) of 2020.
On the other hand, members of the regional and division screening board of the MBHTE-Sulu have started their conduct of demonstration teaching and interview with some 1,800 licensed teachers, applying for jobs in the education ministry. (Bangsamoro Information Office)
