The Regional Commission on Bangsamoro Women (RCBW-BARMM), in partnership with a number of women’s organizations, conducted the first part of Ramadhan Series of Symposia on Friday, May 11, 2019 in Cotabato City.
Hadja Bainon Karon, Bangsamoro Transition Authority member and concurrent RCBW-BARMM chairperson, said the program is part of their advocacy in promoting the vital role that Bangsamoro women in the family and in the community as they are the primary caretakers of children and the elders, and they work alongside their male counterparts in guiding families according to the teachings of Islam.
“Their role is vital and serves as key in nation building. We conduct this kind of symposium this holy month of Ramadhan because we believe this is one of the perfect timing in regularly awakening their role Islamically,” she added.
The said activity was attended by BARMM employees, youth and women leaders, and members of civil society organizations. The schedule of the next rounds of symposia will be on May 18, 25, and June 1, 2019.
