COTABATO CITY—Farmers and cooperatives in this city received livestock package of goat and native chicken assistance from Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) through the Livestock and Poultry Management Section on March 4, 2022 held at Rosary Heights 3.
A total of 30 validated beneficiaries from different barangays in Cotabato City received 60 heads of native goat where each beneficiary received two heads.
The Teshyl Agriculture Cooperative received 100 heads of native chicken together with the two individual farmers who are currently engaged in native chicken free-range farming.
Assistant to the Provincial Director for Special Geographical Area (SGA) and Cotabato City Disumimba D. Rasheed said, “the intervention is intended for small-scale beneficiaries to be served as their additional source of income and as starting material in expanding the production of livestock in the region.”
Rasheed also ensures that further assistance will be distributed to all of the beneficiaries allotted for Cotabato City residences.
To date, MAFAR has distributed similar livestock assistance to farmers in SGA-BARMM held last Feb. 17, 2022 and in Municipality of Pagalungan, Maguindanao on Feb. 10, 2022.
Seeham S. Pangol, Banner Program coordinator of Livestock and Poultry Management Section, challenged each recipient to sustain the program with her high hope that it will help alleviate the lives of the farmer beneficiaries.
“I would like thank the beneficiaries for their time and effort in supporting all the ministry’s activities. We are hoping that this could somehow help alleviate your living condition,” Pangol said.
